Lenten Rose, or Hellebores, pop up through the snow to remind us that winter won’t last forever. This variety is a lovely, relatively large-blooming entrant to the group, with soft centers and a pure white, semi-double bloom. Snowbells’ blooms open to nearly three inches across, an absolute delight to see in the still-cold months. Most hellebores bloom facing downward, but these are naturally side-facing, lending a fuller look. Bright white blooms with a yellow center are reminiscent of daffodils and other spring-flowering bulbs, but this is an incredibly hardy perennial that won’t be burnt out by the cold.
