Purple Passion is a tetraploid strain, and unlike standard green diploid types, it yields purple stalks with less fibrous strands and larger diameters. The unique coloring changes to bright green when steamed for more than 2 minutes, but this variety has up to 20% more sugar than others, making it perfect for eating raw. If you’ve always dreamed of harvesting from your own Asparagus patch, we can’t recommend Purple Passion highly enou!

Note: There will be no harvest the first year as the plants develop their root system. Spears can be harvested starting in the second year and will increase year after year.
