Description

The non-vining clematis are always eye-catching in the border, but Mrs. Robert Brydon deserves a second look for sheer volume alone. The masses of cool lavender flower clusters, borne on arching branches in late summer, fill the garden with fragrant clouds of soft color. Each prominent stamen radiates out from the recurved sepals producing an exotic effect and remain in place late into the season. This is a sprawling plant that can be shown to advantage with some stems placed in a short obelisk. or left to its own devices to form a billowing mass of knee-high ground cover.
