These exquisite double flower heads burst into prolific bloom with soft, pale petals, each one lined with a thin edge of maroon blush. This Lenten Rose unfurls those petals at the very start of spring, rising up to 2′ tall on sturdy stems that grow from deeply colored, palm-like evergreen foliage. It grows best in shady areas, so chose borders, containers and woodland spaces with plenty of cover—and don’t forget to trim a few to bring inside.
